Matthew 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is
like to treasure hid in a field; the which when a man has found, he
hides, and for joy thereof goes and sells all that he has, and buys that
field. 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant man,
seeking goodly pearls: 46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great
price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. (AKJV)
These two
parables are pretty much exclusively used and taught to describe
individuals finding Christ and the Kingdom of God. This is entirely
appropriate. After all it is personal conversion and the translation of
the sinner from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light that
is the entire basis or foundation of the Government of God that was
prophesied to come and to fill the whole earth. However since these two
parables are part of a set of parables that are being used to describe
that prophesied Government of God. This article will seek to expound on
them with this picture in mind: If personal conversion and those who God
has called are the foundation of the prophesied Government of God; then
there is a building that is to be built on that foundation. This
scripture somewhat says this: 1st Timothy 3:15....that you may
know how men ought to behave themselves in the house of God, which is
the assembly of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.
Gods people, his church(s) are the foundation on which to
build something.
God uses
a whole universe of means to bring the sinner to Christ. By choice, the
needs and desires of of sinful men are paramount to them. Since God
rarely has any other avenue available to him he will appeal to, and use,
the selfishness of the sinner to bring them to Christ and repentance. In
that light the pearl of great price and the treasure hidden in the field
are certainly incentive for the sinful who have placed their personal
interests on the throne of the universe. After all the promise of
heaven, escape from the wrath to come. Maybe deliverance from the
consequences of theirs or others actions. There are a million reasons
why the sinner, for completely self centered reasons, would take actions
similar to the parables narrative so they could partake of Gods grace
and salvation. The idea of this article though is to broaden the scope
of these parables. To bring them out of immature and into mature
Christianity. Out of the selfish choice Adam and all who came after him
made , to put their interests above Gods; into a proper perspective.
Where individuals choose to put their interests in their proper place
and like their heavenly Father and Jesus Christ our creator become the
messiah, choose love instead. This is to be done with the only thing one
hundred percent voluntary in
us, our wills, to choose the good. Most importantly, not because of what we get out of it,
but because it is right. Love is a big subject. Unfortunately for the
last few generations a mysterious subject. It wasn't always. That thing
the Bible claims as perfecting the saints was well understood and the
basis of great revivals of generations past. To not
understand the subject of love as the Bible lays it out is to not be
able to walk in it, to not know what to choose and to reject. All people
are born in a default setting as regards to the will. There is no
information available to newly born people to choose differently. That
default setting, that choice, that ultimate or fundamental motive, the reason behind
why men do all that they do good and bad is the gratification of legitimate needs and desires.
That is the supreme aim of mankind, chosen by Adam and chosen by his
descendants. Just because someone comes to Christ does not mean their
motive behind them doing so has changed. Nor do any right or wrong
actions they take once they begin to walk in the faith change the reason
or motive behind all the things they do. That takes some knowledge and a
brand new motive born of heaven. It is the thing that actually changes
the real world experience of believers everywhere and what Bible
teachers ignorantly call: "the sinful nature." Without the knowledge
behind it and choosing to change the fundamental motive, that nature can
never change. After all, how can people stop sinning even though they
intensely desire to when by default their will has unwittingly chosen
the gratification of their needs and desires as their supreme motive?
They can't! No matter how hard they work at it, no matter how much they
pray, fast, study the word. There will always be an overriding sense of
sinfulness that they are aware of before God. This is supposed to be the
most basic of discipleship training but as stated earlier, it is a very
real mystery to the last few generations.
Please visit this link some
time and listen to the audio that expounds on this subject. It may very
well be the basis for the the most life changing experience outside of
coming to Christ you have ever had. As the article unfolds you will see
the reason for this rabbit trail about love as the motive behind what
believers are accepting and doing.
So what then would the
pearl of great price and the hidden treasure represent in a context of
the promised Government of God? To put it another way. What is it that
people are being asked to sacrifice something for other than eternal
life and heaven? Is the cause of Christ simply to reconcile individuals
that are separated from the Government of God because of lawlessness?
Or, is the cause of Christ, ultimately, or by necessity, broader than that?
Scripture provides the best answer to that. Isaiah
5:1 Now will I sing to my well beloved a song of my beloved
touching his vineyard. My well beloved has a vineyard in a very fruitful
hill: 2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and
planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the middle of
it, and also made a wine press therein: and he looked that it should
bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes. 3 And now, O
inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, between
me and my vineyard. 4 What could have been done more to my vineyard,
that I have not done in it? why, when I looked that it should bring
forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes? 5 And now go to; I will tell
you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof,
and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall
be trodden down: 6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor
dig; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the
clouds that they rain no rain on it. 7 For the vineyard of the LORD of
hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant:
and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness,
but behold a cry. (AKJV) Or, as it says in Matthew 21:43
Therefore say I to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and
given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it.
Due to the teachings modern
Christianity has (wrongly) accepted concerning the future. The focus of
the production of "fruit," is on the individual almost exclusively. That
those who follow Christ become equitable, godly, self controlled, live
right, ect ect. Individual fruit definitely scriptural. However the
fruit spoken of in the scriptures above is referencing national or
cultural fruit. It's only tie in to individual fruit is that you cannot
have national fruit without individual fruit. You cannot pass a law to
make people good. Plus, people who are not good, who don't have light
from heaven do not have the capability to produce the rule of law and
good government no matter how badly they may desire it. We have seven
thousand years of human history that proves this without any exceptions.
In fact if we look at ancient Israel the entire Old Testament is filled
with condemnation and judgments against their lack of cultural or
national fruit. There is so much and it is so well known that there is
not any use in giving more examples of the scriptures above. So the
question might be. If the focus of almost the entirety of the Old
Testaments judgments concern national or cultural fruit, what changed in
the New Testament? The answer to that is nothing changed. Jesus is right
here in that verse and many a New Testament chapter condemning and even
rendering a judgment of capitol punishment upon the nation for it's lack
of national or cultural fruit. This was not the first time that the Lord
came to render this judgment against Israel. The judgment recorded in
Isaiah above proceeded that day of the Lord that came at the hand of
Assyria and then Babylon resulting in almost entire annihilation of the
nation. From a population of millions only thousands survived it. Within
the confines of the generation Jesus preached to, he came again in
judgment,
this time at the hands of Rome to carry out the sentence.
On further examination
of the subject we can also see that there were plenty of people bearing
individual fruit in the days of Isaiah and in the days of the Messiah.
The numbers of individuals became even more notable during Jesus's and
his apostles ministries. Yet, they did not\could not turn the nation
away from its path towards self destruction. They themselves, the
believers were supernaturally spared the condemnation of the Lords
return in 70 AD but they suffered mightily under the persecutions in
every nation they preached in. Which by the way the Lord returned in
judgment to those nations at their appointed days of the Lord as well.
Especially against the Roman Empire as recorded (as prophecy) in most of
the chapters of the book of Revelation. What this all means is that just
because individuals can in Christ bear the most wonderful fruit and
goodness from heaven. That in and of itself does not mean that a nation,
the nation they are a citizen of will. To put that another way.
Individual fruit, although the most basic ingredient behind,
undergirding and the cause of national or cultural fruit. Must be
accompanied by calculated, common sense, God breathed workable
strategies to bring about national fruit. (Led by those who are bearing
the individual fruit.) By national or cultural fruit it is meant: The
nation or culture has adopted the rule of law based on Biblical principle for human behavior,
relationships and good government. It means that the concept of justice
become real and administered by good government. It means that human
government is limited. It means that right and wrong is understood by
the population and becomes the cultural norm. It must acknowledge the
governor of the universe as supreme and truth as objective all the while
realizing that objective truth has to become subjective truth for the
population to actually walk in it. It does not preclude that there are
not wicked people dwelling among good people and therefore necessitating
the administration of justice through force and armed conflict. All of
these things and much, much more. That is the fruit God desired of
Israel as an example to the future nations of the world after the Gospel
was brought to them. (Both the good example and the bad, the blessings
and the judgment.)
Therein lies
the tie in to the parable. Through the Gospel, the prophesied Kingdom of God's normative
byproduct in a nation is cultural or national fruit. If it wasn't
natural, God
would not condemn or judge a nation for not yielding to something that
was to be expected once a significant minority of the
population was bearing heavens individual fruit. This normative effect of the
Government of God working good in large numbers of individuals brings us
to the
hidden treasure and the pearl of great price. Which is, in the context of
the prophesied government of God on the earth, national or cultural
fruit. To answer objections to this it's best to look at some of the
reasons this is true.
The main or the broad reason for this is because
nations who's populations and governments beliefs and conduct are based
on Biblical principle are the most conducive to heavens purposes on
earth. Lets look at a few common sense scriptural scenario's to validate
this. Malachi 2:13 And this have you done again, covering the
altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, so that
he regards not the offering any more, or receives it with good will at
your hand. 14 Yet you say, Why? Because the LORD has been witness
between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt
treacherously: yet is she your companion, and the wife of your covenant.
15And did not he make them one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit.
And why one? That he might seek a godly offspring. Therefore take heed
to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his
youth. 16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, said that he hates divorce:
as one covers violence with his garment, said the LORD of hosts:
therefore take heed to your spirit, that you deal not treacherously,
(paraphrase.) In this scripture the entire purpose of the creation of
mankind, (male and female) can be seen. Godly offspring. That people, in
unity with God, create and raise human beings morally fit to populate
heaven for eternity. A way for God who is love to share the joys and
blessedness that he himself possess with as many others as possible. But
ask yourself if the purpose of creation is fulfilled in a communist
tyranny like the Soviet Union or its eastern European empire? To
those dictators marriage was a bourgeois interest. Meaning, a fake
materialistic social construct of respectability created for the middle
class to further the goals of the "capitalists." They favored the
model of "the community" of woman. Basically a new twist to the
same old ancient world order where woman were treated as slaves to be
passed around between men for their gratification. Children were the
property of the "state" made to further the interests of whatever
dictator was in power. This had the practical effect in many of these
countries; that if a parent or parents became believers and were caught
teaching their children about Christ. That the parents would be executed
(usually by torture or tortured and executed, ) and the children were
left to the streets. In a particularly heinous twist to further
discourage any other parents making the same mistake. It became
the death penalty for others to take those abandoned orphans in
and help them so the only avenue left for them just to get some bread to
eat was prostitution. This is just an example of the myriad of ways that
tyranny and tyrants, dictators, kings and emperors and institutionalized
human slavery thwarted Gods purposes for his creation. It made it
impossible for the will of God to be done in the earth. Or as stated
above. Not conducive to heavens purposes on earth as mankind was acting
against the laws of nature and natures God.
If one looks carefully at
all the earthly (not heavenly) promises of God made to all the saints in
times past that never came to pass in their generations. Promises that
they labored to attain yet the wickedness and tyranny in the world
prevented those promises. One can see in the prophetic scriptures that
there would be an age that was coming where those promises would be
attainable in this world. Not for them, they were to sow that future
generations may possess them. However that pearl of great price
and the hidden treasure was worth their sacrifice. Yes, they themselves
like their messiah, would be able to share in the joyful results of
their sacrifice as a great cloud of witnesses when the earth finally
began to bear this fruit. When real justice and the rule of law started
to bloom in the nations of the world. Not only would citizenship in
heaven be worth the sacrifice but the blood and treasure they sowed into
the earth would to them become a small thing in light of the glory of
God revealed in the nations of the world that they would some day
witness. Since a scripture about the raising of children was used
previously to describe the will of God on earth. Lets look at a couple
of these promises of the age that was to come regarding those godly
children.
Isaiah 65:17
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall
not be remembered, nor come into mind. 18 But be you glad and rejoice
for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a
rejoicing, and her people a joy. (This is the New Jerusalem of
Revelation. An illustration of God's saints in the age that was to come
where all the earthly promises of God begin to come to pass in the
nations that are bearing national or cultural fruit.) 19 And I
will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of
weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
(For instance, because of the absence of tyranny, slavery oppression and
famines, ect.) 20 There shall be no more there an infant of
days, nor an old man that has not filled his days: for the child shall
die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old
shall be accursed. ( A promise of long life for the general
population. For instance, the average of 80 years today in the nations
that have been dramatically influenced by the gospel from the average of
forty years for the entirety of the ancient world.) 21 And they
shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards,
and eat the fruit of them. 22 They shall not build, and another inhabit;
they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the
days of my people, and my elect shall long enjoy the work of their
hands. ( Divine property rights as summarized in the USA's and
other constitutions of the nations that have had the Gospel for
centuries. Also because these geographical area's are no longer being
conquered by wicked empires seeking spoil.) 23 They shall not
labor in vain, nor give birth to children for trouble; for they are the
seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their children with them.
(Promises directly related to the raising of children, that godly seed
of which, all of these other prophecies have to have come to pass to be
able to actually posses this promise about children. ) 24 And
it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while
they are yet speaking, I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed
together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall
be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy
mountain, said the LORD. (These animals are illustrations of
different races, peoples and nationalities becoming one in Christ and\or
living at peace with one another because Biblical principle with or
without personal conversion has become the accepted standard for their
lives. Of course the mountain is God's invisible government that over
time fills the whole earth.)
Isaiah 54:
Once more speaking of the New Jerusalem which is an illustration of Gods people
living in the age, plus, living in the nations the Gospel has been
allowed to run its full course. Verse 5 is the one concerning the raising of
children. 10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be
removed; but my kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the
covenant of my peace be removed, said the LORD that has mercy on you. 11
O you afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will
lay your stones with fair colors, and lay your foundations with
sapphires. 12 And I will make your windows of agates, and your gates of
carbuncles, and all your borders of pleasant stones. 13 And all your
children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of
your children. 14 In righteousness shall you be established: you shall
be far from oppression; for you shall not fear: and from terror; for it
shall not come near you. 15 Behold, they (the wicked)
shall surely gather together (to try to conquer, enslave and
steal your inheritance), but not by me: whoever shall gather
together against you shall fall for your sake. Lets look at a
few more prophetic scriptures about the messiah and his people to answer
objections about the nature of the pearl of great price and hidden
treasure this article is putting forth.
Isaiah 49:6
And he said, It is a light thing that you should be my servant to raise
up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will
also give you for a light to the nations, that you may be my salvation
to the end of the earth. 7 Thus said the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel,
and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation
abhors, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also
shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of
Israel, and he shall choose you. 8 Thus said the LORD, In an acceptable
time have I heard you, and in a day of salvation have I helped you: and
I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant of the people, to
establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
Here the messiah is given as the light and the salvation of the nations.
Then in verse 8 the messiah's people are given to "establish the earth."
Meaning, to build something on that sure foundation of the truth. Which
would be nations founded upon Biblical principle for human relations,
right and wrong and human government. Not only this but explicate in the
great commission is the maintenance of those nations founded upon
Biblical principle and the expansion of the number of nations
likeminded. Now lets look at another prophecy about the Bride of Christ,
the New Jerusalem of Revelation 21:1And I saw a new heaven and
a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away;
and there was no more sea. 2: And I John saw the holy city, new
Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride
adorned for her husband..... 9 And there came to me one of the seven
angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and
talked with me, saying, Come here, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's
wife. Hosea 2:19 And I will betroth you to me for ever;
yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in
loving kindness, and in mercies. 20 I will even betroth you to me in
faithfulness: and you shall know the LORD. 21 And it shall come to pass
in that day, I will hear, said the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and
they shall hear the earth; 22 And the earth shall hear the corn, and the
wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel. 23 And I will sow her to
me in the earth; and I will have mercy on her that had not obtained
mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, You are my
people; and they shall say, You are my God. Notice in verse 23,
what God does with his bride? He does not take her to heaven but sows
her into the earth! Why, for what purpose? As Isaiah 49:8 says: To
establish the earth, that Gods purposes for mankind would be fulfilled.
Another very famous
prophecy; famous because Jesus quotes it in the Gospels to be speaking
of him. If the whole thing is read, it speaks of the eventual results of
his ministry that would take place in the world. Isaiah 61:1The
Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me; because the LORD has anointed me to
preach good tidings to the meek...... Then some of the eventual
results of his anointing: 6 But you shall be named the Priests
of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: you shall eat
the riches of the nations, and in their glory shall you boast
yourselves. 7 For your shame you shall have double; and for confusion
they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall
possess the double: everlasting joy shall be to them. 8 For I the LORD
love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct
their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
9 And their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles, and their
offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them,
that they are the children which the LORD has blessed. 10 I will greatly
rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has
clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the
robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and
as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. 11 For as the earth brings
forth her bud, and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it
to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to
spring forth before all the nations. In verse 6 it states that
those, and we know by prophecy and history that it means eventually.
That those who are of Christ will boast themselves in the glory of the
nations. Well this certainly doesn't mean that they would boast of the
pagan idolatrous nations of the ancient world. Nor does it mean they
would boast themselves of the unrighteous empires who claimed to
themselves Christianity but withheld the Word of God from the peoples so
they could maintain their rule over them. No, what it meant was that in
that age that was to come, this age to be exact. Gods people would boast of
the glory, meaning the state of existence of the nations they or their
ancestors founded on Biblical principle. This can be seen in any
believer today who is intimately familiar with the founding of the
United States and the development of Christian thought in northern
Europe that enabled it to be so completely founded upon Biblical
principle. The "glory" of the United States meaning it's existence and
what it has accomplished because of it's foundation is indeed a cause of
boasting. Not if you look at its evil wrought by the wicked within its
borders who have from its start worked to thwart the ideals of its
founders. The boast is when you compare it to all the nations of the
ancient world which is the context of Bible prophecy. The nations of that
age where Satan had complete and perpetual dominion over them
through horrendously insane idolatry, tyranny, slavery that always
brought death and destruction. Comparing that to this age where the
world had never seen the freedom, liberty and prosperity enjoyed by the
masses. An age where the rule of law and justice so many in the western
world now enjoy because common men have had the Bible for the last 5
centuries.
Now. If some have read this article
without yet becoming familiar with the others on this website. Based on
what is considered acceptable Biblical knowledge in the popular culture
and amongst this generations pastors and teachers. It would be no surprise that
even with the scriptures listed there could be some hefty skepticism.
That is understandable. Therefore I would beg you to make this website a
resource for personal study. Especially the article titled "End Time
Prophecy." The implications of this article to
todays generations are made very clear in chapter after chapter of Bible
prophecy in other articles in this website. That we are, (actually still
in the beginnings,) of an age that the last few
generations of beleivers are completely unaware of. At least according
to their common understandings of scripture. This has amounted to
nothing short of hundreds of millions of believers being led astray from
the will of God, their duties and their faith concerning the future that
can only come through the revealed will of God in his Word. This is what
false prophecy by the prophets of Jehovah, (as opposed to the prophets
of Baal,) was designed to do in ancient Israel. Rob Gods people of their
future. To get them on a path that would lead them to trial, temptation
and eventually their enslavement and destruction as opposed to the path
that would lead them to salvation. False prophecy in the guise of end
times prophecy teachings have stolen the future from those who's hearts
have been captured by it. Satan has blinded their hearts by getting them
to ignore or be unaware of the names and dates the Bible places on it's
own end time prophecies. They then ignorantly apply those prophecies to
their present-day time and circumstances. The Bible's end time
prophecies were prophesying the end of two specific ages that the people
in the Bible were living in. One of them, the first covenant age, of
which a big chunk of end time prophecy is devoted to. (Representing most
New Testament prophecy outside the book of Revelation.) That age ended
with the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. The other age, the Age of
the Gentiles ended in 1453 AD with the fall of the Roman Empire. That
age, of which all the other end time prophecy is speaking about was the
time period when Babylon, Medo\Persia, Greece and Rome ruled over,
oppressed and warred against all the saints of the Old and New
Testament. Most people are unaware that the capitol of the Roman Empire
was moved to Constantinople in 333 AD and there never ceased to be an
emperor on the thrown until it was conquered by the Ottoman Turks in
1453 AD. That date, relating to when that empire would end is prophesied
seven times in end time prophecies. They are pointed out in the
previously mentioned article. The oft prophesied age that was to occur
after the fall of the fourth empire, the Roman one has it's own set of
prophecies that are ignored or that people are generally unaware of.
Well over one hundred chapters worth of not all, but generally good news
prophecy, that include no end time prophecy. These chapters should be
the focus of faith of the modern day churches because they define the
will of God, and what has actually been transpiring the last five
centuries. Armed with those chapters the duties and
responsibilities of believers will become much broader. Most importantly
what can reasonably be expected as possible will be sought for and
strategized. In other words believers will take back the future they
have unwittingly given over to Satan. That future would include the
establishment and maintenance of republics based on Biblical principle
as normal Christian duty. As normal as soul winning and missionary work
for the typical Christian. Churches would once more consider it their
reasonable service to God to guide the nations into all truth. To raise
up politicians and statesmen as well as pastors and missionaries. To
become hot beds of God driven, godly politics as well as houses of
healing, discipleship and soul winning. There is no difference. It just
depends on the phase the culture and nations they are in, are at.
Obviously there would be no purpose for this when bringing the Gospel to
a nation that has never really had it before. Just as there was no
purpose in the early church being involved in anything other than what
they were doing.
This brings us back
to the begining of the article. To the subject of love and mature
Christianity. Just as love is to be the motive undergirding church
service and soul winning. It is also to be the motive behind building
nations on Biblical principle. This is mature Chrisinity. It is worth
the sacrifice and make no mistake about it. It is a sacrifice. Bringing
purity and godliness into the rough and tumble of corrupt politics, even
being capable of doing so wisely will be met with resistance. The wicked
do not want any competition. Especially if it means an end to their ill
gotten gain. Human government and culture is a realm of the Government
of God just as much as personal purity, soul winning, marriage and the
raising of children or any other subject commonly thought of as an area
of interest to God. This is in fact what being heavenly minded is all
about. Not a mind that thinks about what heaven is like and wishes to go
there; to not do anything that would prevent going. Being heavenly
minded is to be focused on the things that are
of heaven.
Like purity, right relationships, winning people to Christ and yes,
good, limited human government. Those are all things that are of heaven.
They are all things that are in the interests of the Government of God.
Therefore they are all things that are part and parcel of that pearl of
great price and the hidden treasure that we as believers need to
sacrifice for. What sacrifice specifically depends on the circumstances
a generation finds themselves in. To the native believer, bringing the
Gospel to his nation that has never had it. Martyrdom, his very life may
be the thing that is sacrificed for the sake of Christ and his fellow
man. Under those circumstances, because of the constant threat of murder
or imprisonment. Not getting married and raising children may be a
sacrifice that one can serve without the distraction of constant threats
to ones family. To the nation reaching a critical mass of new believers,
so that the powers that be feel threatened by their presence and seek to
bring about a genocide to remove the threat. Military service as a
freedom fighter for them and their family may be that sacrifice needed
to secure the future. Obviously this is a touchy subject to many young
people in the west who have never been personally threatened with
machete wielding mobs. Who believe service to God is pacifist in nature.
This in fact was generally true in the age of the gentiles and believers
were warned in prophecy against taking up the sword against the Roman
Empire. However it is not the case in this age. It may be under certain
circumstances and may not be in others. That is a subject of debate.
However, all the free nations in the west as part of this process,
gained that freedom that young people enjoy by armed conflict. It is,
many times, like it or not, part of the process God endorses to bring
about his good will in the earth. It is also the pride or the glory of
the United States military, (most of the time.) To be an armed force
dedicated to the freedom of mankind and the pursuit of justice. Last but
certainly not least. If past generations have made their perspective
sacrifices to be able to found a nation on Biblical principle. Then the
sacrifice that must be made by their descendants is to do what ever is
necessary to maintain that nation and it's foundation. May God's people
pray and humble themselves. That they may see and turn from their sins.
That they might throw off their false prophecy concerning inevitable
futures and pay what it cost to purchase that pearl or that field for
the glory of God and future generations.
