 THE CONSTITUTION OF Louisiana 1812

    State Constitutions

As the founders of the nation began to die off so to the their vision of all men being created equal and having the divine right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Louisiana was one of many states that would now constitutionally seek to empower some at the expense of others to keep the status quo. Instead of a march foward into light the new nation would now be permanently beset by sectarian strife spawned by selfish and wicked men that could only lead to divine judgment and civil war. Non whites were forbidden from taking any part in the states governance in a number of places. As a mater of curiosity to 2nd amendment advocates this state required all adult white men to be armed rather than acknowledging a right to bear arms. The only reference to the author of the nations freedom is in the last sentence of the constitution and why not? Seeing's how they busied themselves in rebellion against that author of freedom and the march of history to end tyranny and slavery it would  be counter productive to embrace the Bible and it's teachings as something that governs what men aught and aught not to do.

Sect. 22nd. The free white men of this State, shall be armed and disciplined for its defense; but those who belong to religious societies, whose tenets forbid them to carry arms, shall not be compelled so to do, but shall pay an equivalent for personal service. Sect. 23rd. The militia of this state shall be organized in such manner as may be hereafter deemed most expedient by the legislature

Done in Convention, at New Orleans, the twenty second day of the month of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve, and of the independence of the United States of America, the thirty-sixth
