    Bible Symbolism

Revelation 1:4.  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Notice that in all these verses below eternal life begins with true faith and the death of the physical body is not really a factor in their  illustrative use of the language. This symbolic language though is not used by all the apostles the way John who wrote the Book of Revelation regularly uses it. 

      1 John 6 47. Truly Truly, I say to you, He that believes on me has everlasting life. 48. I am that bread of life. 49. Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die. 51. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world..... 58. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eats of this bread shall live for ever.

      John 11 25. Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26. And whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you beleive this?

     John 10 27. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28. And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

     John 17 1. These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you: 2. As you have given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as you have given him. 3. And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

     Romans 6 22. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

     1 Timothy 6 11. But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto you are also called, and have professed a good profession before many witnesses.

     1 John 5 11. And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12. He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life. 13. These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.

     1John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death

      1John 5:11 And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
