JAMES MADISON

(1751-1836)

The fourth president of the United states, from 1809-1817. The original author and promoter of the Bill of Rights. A member of the first United States Congress and an instrumental member of the Constitutional Convention from Virginia, speaking 161 times.

 

 

THOMAS JEFFERSON

(1743-1826)

   Third president of the United States serving from 1801-1809. Principle author of the Declaration of Independence.  Virginia's delegate to the Constitutional Convention.
