Acts 2:32 This Jesus has God raised up, whereof
we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God
exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy
Ghost, he has shed forth this, which you now see and hear. What
was it that he shed forth? This: Acts 2:1 And when the day of
Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there
appeared to them divided tongues like as of fire, and it sat on each of
them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak
with other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance. The
word divided means to distribute. The picture is that Jehovah the Word
became Jesus a man, the promised descendant of Abraham. It was he as
Jehovah the Word who gave the Holy Spirit in the past to those of faith
but now it is he as a man, the promised messiah who distributes in
different measures the Holy Spirit to the house of faith.
Galatians 3 14. That the blessing of Abraham
might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive
the promise of the Spirit through faith. 15. Brothers, I speak after the
manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be
confirmed, no man disannuls, or adds to it. 16. Now to Abraham and his
descendent were the promises made. He said not, And to descendants, as
of many; but as of one, And to your descendent, which is Christ.
John 3:34 (John the Baptist speaking)
For he whom God has sent (Jesus) speaks the words of
God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure to him.
John 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw
the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. 33
And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same
said unto me, Upon whom you shalt see the Spirit descending, and
remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Holy Ghost. 34
And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, Repent, and
be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39
For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are
afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.
