TTHE PHYSICAL CITY OF JERUSLAEM AND MOUNT ZION; PROPHETIC OF GOD'S PEOPLE IN AN AGE THAT WAS TO COME

    The Government
of God

Hebrews 12:18 For you are not come to the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor to blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard entreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: 20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: 21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:) 22 But you are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things that that of Abel.

This is a huge subject that have hundreds of chapters of scripture that need analyzed to show the reality of claim made above. It was and still is one of the great mysteries of the scripture as a whole. It is also a major topic on Wordservice.org that has many a page and some articles dedicated to. It is way to much work to rewrite on this subject in a way that would satisfy the scrutiny of the reader so a few links to previous articles will be provided. One of the most amazing ways God prophesied the future and his plan for it was through the lives of the people all the way back in the book of Genesis and beyond. In that book (and the other books of the law,) God showed and prophesied his rejection of the rites and rituals of the first convent in favor of his ultimate plan, the second covenant. Not only the people but the land, the other peoples, Zion, Jerusalem, the feasts, every aspect of their lives and circumstances preached and prophesied what was predestinated to come to the entire earth through the Messiah Jesus Christ. They were chosen beforehand to bring the Messiah, the Gospel, the Bible (and the blessings they tasted of) to everyone else.  The land, the people and the city were symbolic of the age to come when Gods invisible government begins to fill the earth. In the book of Genesis this can be seen in this article. Bible Symbolism in the Book of Genesis.

Jerusalem is situated on Mt Zion.  It and therefore Mt Zion symbolized Gods saints (the New Jerusalem) in the predestined age of the second covenant. However its rise in the earth as the shining light to all peoples was not prophesied to occur until the fall of the Roman Empire which occurred in 1453 AD. The very first article (still unfinished) on this website is called The New Jerusalem. To show the reader the massive amount of scripture dedicated to the New Jerusalem that generally seems to elude modern Biblical scholarship. There are sixty-five links from the first 18 of 46 verses in chapters 21-22 of the book of Revelation about the New Jerusalem. These links mostly go to the Old Testament were every single verse about the New Jerusalem in Revelation comes from. The context of the verses as they are placed in the Old Testament chapters without question show what the title of this page is claiming.  That article does not even include teaching like the others on this website do so the scope and size of the subject Biblically is beyond and it would seem somewhat hidden from the eye's of most Christians today. Not that it is God's will for it to be hidden.

Another article, quiet large, is about end time prophecy. Its aim is to point out the places where the Bible interprits its own prophecies rather than the endless speculations and prognostications about it that come of pop culture teachings that pervade our culture. Naturally since the end of the Bible ends with the New Jerusalem there are quite a  few pages dedicated to teaching and pointing out the Bible's own interpretations about what the New Jerusalem illustrates as a prophecy. Here is a bookmarked link to that section of that article.
